SEEING – A Feast for Eyes and Ears

A film that redefines seeing. A 50-minute music video that unfolds like a multi-layered kaleidoscope – SEEING is a feast for eyes and ears. In seven musical stories, the film combines vivid imagery with expressive sounds, taking the audience on a sensory journey through emotion and imagination.

A Total Work of Art as a Synesthetic Experience

Composer Matthias Krohn, who has been creating ensemble music for a variety of instruments for many years, brings SEEING to life as a masterful fusion of moving images and sound. The music ranges from meditative passages and complex rhythmic structures to captivating grooves. The compositions reach their full potential through their deep integration with intense video sequences filled with explosions of color, abstract structures, and inspiring visual worlds.
The film is a challenge to the senses: Where does the dream begin? What is reality? SEEING pushes the audience’s imagination to its limits – and beyond.

Seven Stories in Sound and Color

Seven distinct musical episodes unfold before the viewers' eyes – each with its own character, sonic language, and visual world. Framed by a prologue and an epilogue, these cinematic poems are woven from soundscapes, light, and movement. The spectrum ranges from contemplative and philosophical compositions to passionate and playful pieces. The music is drawn from a vast array of sound sources. Alongside the human voice, instruments from all over the world come into play: African drums, Asian gongs, instruments from classic, jazz and rock, merge into a unique sonic landscape. This acoustic diversity is also reflected in the visual realization: Pulsating colors, dynamic structures, and abstract forms transport the audience into ever-new dimensions.

Inspired by Art

Matthias Krohn's cinematic visions in SEEING are inspired by the art of painter Dietmar Wagner, who himself is influenced in his work by the abstract expressionism of Jackson Pollock. The fusion of music, image, and color creates a thrilling, multi-layered experience, echoing the words of Paul Klee: "Art does not reproduce the visible; rather, it makes visible."

An Experience That Lasts

SEEING is not just a film – it is a mesmerizing, immersive experience that gets under your skin. A sensory intoxication that awakens emotions, provokes thought, and expands perception. In this unique symbiosis of sound and image, the invisible becomes visible – reflecting Christian Morgenstern’s insight: "One often sees something a hundred times, a thousand times, before one really sees it for the very first time."
